Cartoon, Cartoon!

Hey there!

Do you remember rushing to the T.V. room after reaching home from school and grabbing the remote like your life depends on it? Sitting and watching cartoons and going into a state of oblivion, ignoring the repeated reminders of pending homework and eventually begging our parents to extend our T.V. time just to be able to catch another episode of our favourite cartoon. Ahhh those good old days when watching Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon would take all the 'stress' away....

If you think about it, besides being super entertaining, most of those had good hidden messages- respecting our parents, the meaning of true friendship, being compassionate, courageous etc. These days, the T.V. network is flooded with trashy cartoons that make us want to cry out loud. Have you ever tried watching Ninja Hattori or Oggy & the Cockroaches with your baby cousins/nieces and nephews??? A small tip, DON'T, no matter how cute and adorable faces those tiny humans make. It's a trap.

All this talk is getting us nostalgic, so it's time for a quick peek into a cherished aspect of our childhood!

1. Scooby Doo

An incredibly cute and goofy dog following a bunch of teenage detectives who go around solving crimes... what's not to love?! Scooby dooby dooooooo (P.S. Is it just us, or did you also wonder what Scooby snacks taste like?)

2. Dexter's Laboratory

An accurate description of the relationship among siblings, there is no other cartoon we can possibly relate to more than this one.

3. Baby Looney tunes

All our favourite cartoon characteristics put in one show, that too in their baby forms!!!!

4. Flintstones

A caveman, always in the middle of some sticky situation, who has an elephant for a showerhead, a dinosaur as a pet and a vehicle that operates in the most unique way possible, this was a cartoon very different from the others, but just as amazing. Yabadabadoooooo

5. Powerpuff girls

Three young girls saving the world from all things evil, this was definitely in our top 3 list. The number of fights we’ve had with our friends to ascertain who among us is Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup are too many to count.

6. Popeye

Oh, the way those biceps bulged each time Popeye ate a can of spinach is imprinted in our memories forever. Plus, we think our mothers approved of this cartoon the most because of the healthy eating habits it encouraged…

7. Oswald

This one was full of endearing characters, whether it was the compassionate Oswald or the optimistic Daisy, the grumpy Henry or the smart Madame Caterpillar. It was super-colourful and always came with a positive message.

8. Bob the builder

Here’s a quick test for you- Can you sing the whole ‘Bob the builder’ theme song without breaking off in the middle? We certainly can!! That’s how much we loved this one.

9. Roadrunner

Even though we knew that coyote would never catch the roadrunner, still we were always on the edge of our seats while watching this one. *peep peep*

10. Johnny Bravo

His confidence (overconfidence) about his good looks could give Poo from K3G a run for her money!

11. Cat Dog

The story and struggles of a cat and a dog who are joint together. There was no fighting over the remote for this one. Because everyone in the house (Mom included) loved it equally.

12. Jungle book

Another one who’s theme song we know by heart- chaddi pehen ke phool khila hai! This one always aired in hindi and we loved it!

13. Swat Cats

Not many remember this one, but we definitely do! The swat cats are two super cool felines who fight crime in their state-of-the-art fighter jet. Again, we watched the Hindi version and that made it much more fun!

14. Richie Rich

Livin’ the life- loving parents, gorgeous mansion to live in, a super-smart dog and the funniest science teacher with a cool laboratory.

15. Tom & Jerry

The most iconic of all, Tom & Jerry was and will always be the universal favourite.

Well, this turned out to be one heck of a walk down the memory lane! Did you know that most of these are available on Amazon Prime to watch? The next time you see the babies in your house watching some lame cartoon, please introduce them to these visual treats (Just kidding, the objective here is obviously to find a socially acceptable setting for adults to re-watch cartoons from their childhood. Duh!)

We hope you liked this blog post. Comment below to let us know if we missed out your favourite cartoons.

Adios readers! Until next time.
